Tutorful is on a mission to redefine the private tutoring industry. Having started in 2015, we have so far delivered over 1 million lessons to over 100,000 students. We have received backing from a leading VC and several prominent tech executives, have raised over £4m to help realise our vision, and are growing more than 50% yoy.
We have ambitious plans to reinvent tuition and access to education. If you want to join our mission, take a look at our jobs...
We favour small, autonomous teams with clear objectives
In some companies, managers tightly control what employees work on. We think differently. We believe that giving individuals and teams a clear objective, but otherwise letting them use their own talents, judgement, and drive is a better way. We provide direction on where to go, not micro-directions on how to get there.
That’s why we strive to have less processes and procedures, instead trusting our teams to work effectively.
We put our customers first
We have a really important mission at Tutorful. We’re helping students receive a better quality of education. To succeed, we need to not just create something that people are satisfied with, but something that delights them. We don’t want to create a forgettable product, we want to create something that we’re proud of.
We strive for impact
We’re open about our ambitions to create a hugely impactful company at Tutorful. Doing so with limited resources requires ambition, focus, and a can-do attitude.
This means: We favour shipping frequently over large, long releases; we aim for simplicity over complex plans; we favour action over academic discussions; we focus on the big things that matter, not the small things that don’t.
We’re open and transparent
We believe in being open and transparent. Some companies like to control what information is shared, but we don't. If we want people to make smart decisions, they need context and all of the available information. That’s why we’re transparent about our financials, our metrics, and our financial position. We have an open plan office, and an open door policy - anyone can approach anyone.
We work with awesome colleagues
A great place to work isn’t about free beer and a cool office (although we like those things). It’s about working with colleagues who are awesome at what they do, on something challenging and meaningful.
This means we aim to hire people who excel at what they do, and from whom everyone else can learn. It also means we are awesome colleagues ourselves, people whom others actively enjoy working with.
